The first real, proper word of a film – or something new, at least – set in the world of Breaking Bad arrived in November. Since then, it has been kept tightly wrapped in a protective suit, but a few more details are beginning to emerge. All signs are pointing to a focus on Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman and the story being set after the events of the series.
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has written the new script and will direct (assuming he hasn't already!), and the idea of it focusing on Jesse seems to track given that the initial log line mentions "the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom", which would track with Pinkman's mad dash at the end of the show.
The other news of the new project is Deadline reporting that Netflix has nabbed the first rights to show it, with US home AMC taking second position. More than that? We'll have to wait, as the shields are still well and truly up on this one.
