Aaron Paul might not have had the best luck in big movies (especially the disappointing Need For Speed), but he’s been putting in solid performances in indies. Paul is on to produce and star alongside Game Of Thrones' Carice Van Houten in The Parts You Lose.

Dutch director Paula van der Oest is behind this one, with Jack The Giant Slayer’s Darren Lemke scripting the slightly smaller-scale tale of a young, hearing impaired lad called Wesley who encounters an injured, potentially dangerous fugitive (Paul) in a North Dakota town. The two quickly and unexpectedly bond, and Wesley finds the strength to deal with the stresses of life. We’re choosing (spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t seen the end of the show despite it airing more than two years ago) to see this as the unofficial Breaking Bad spin-off, with Jesse Pinkman arriving in the town in the aftermath of his time in New Mexico.

Van Houten’s role isn’t mentioned in the Wrap’s report, but she could be playing the boy’s mother. Or, you know, conjuring cloud demon babies to kill her lover’s enemies. She’s got form on that front. The Parts You Lose is scheduled to kick off shooting early next year in Canada. Paul has John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine arriving on February 19 and appears in action comedy Central Intelligence with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, which is due on July 1. Van Houten, meanwhile, will be seen in Western thriller Brimstone and Jesse Owens biopic Race.
