Team Blumhouse, led by Paranormal Activity producer Jason Bum, is on a roll after the success of Sinister, The Purge and, more recently, last weekend’s big launch for Insidious Chapter 2. Now it's launching what they hope will be another big horror franchise, and Aaron Eckhart is on board to star in **Incarnate.

Eckhart will star as a showy exorcist who has a special skill: he can tap into the subconscious of the possessed people he tries to help. Unfortunately, his latest case might be more than even he can handle, as he takes on a new victim, a 9-year-old boy, and an old enemy, a demon from the exorcist’s past that has claimed the child.

The plan is for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’s Brad Peyton to direct from a script by Ronnie Christensen, with the budget kept typically low in the hopes of big returns and future instalments.

Peyton will start shooting in November, and while there’s no studio attached to distribute yet, Blumhouse has a first-look deal with Universal. But given Eckhart’s most prominent facial feature, shouldn’t this really be called Chincarnate? Anyone? No? Suit yourselves.

Eckhart will next show up in I, Frankenstein, which is out here on January 24.
