Bristol's stop-motion animation geniuses are at it again – and this time, they're going prehistoric. Early Man is the latest film from the Wallace & Gromit creators, and we've been given an early look at what to expect. Take a look below.

Set at the dawn of time, we follow Dug the caveman (voiced by Eddie Redmayne) and his trusty warthog sidekick Hognob. They unite against the evil Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston) and his Bronze Age City to save their home.

A clutch of British talent has also been announced to join the voice cast today. Leading Dug's tribe is Chief Bobnar, voiced by Timothy Spall; Richard Ayoade plays gentle giant Treebor; Selena Griffiths plays Treebor's no-nonsense mother; Johnny Vegas plays the brilliantly-named Asbo; and perhaps most intriguingly of all, Mark Williams plays Barry, "whose best friend is a rock", according to Aardman. Game Of Thrones' Maisie Williams also lends her voice.

The cameras started rolling – incredibly slowly and incrementally – back in October, and production was announced with a charming little teaser.

Nick Park, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind Wallace & Gromit, Creature Comforts and Chicken Run is back in the director’s chair for this one. Expect the usual marriage of wittily eccentric British humour and lovingly hand-crafted animation when Early Man arrives in cinemas on 26 January, 2018.
