As John Krasinski and Paramount continue their efforts to expand the world of A Quiet Place following the successful sequel, it looked for a while as though Midnight Special's Jeff Nichols would take on the job of directing a spin-off. But he left the project in October to focus on his own films, and the Director Wanted sign went up. A replacement has been found in Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski.

Though the plot details are under wraps, we do know that it'll be set in the same world as the first two films, but will follow different characters in another (quiet) place. It's all based on an idea from Krasinski, who has been shepherding the films since he signed on to re-write, direct and co-star in the 2018 original.

According to Deadline, the success and style Sarnoski's film, which starred Nicolas Cage as a truffle hunter who goes in search of his beloved porcine foraging pal, saw him rocket onto the shortlist, and his pitch fit the tone for what Krasinski and co. wanted to do with the new Quiet Place film.
