The Farrelly brothers haven't shied away from revisiting some of their comedy back catalogue – they brought the world Dumb And Dumber To, after all. And now it appears they're ready to go back to the world of Kingpin, setting up a potential sequel.
According to Collider, Peter and Bobby Farrelly are on board to at the very least produce a Kingpin follow-up at Village Roadshow Pictures, though details beyond that are pretty much non-existent, so we don't know if they'll direct, have anything to do with the screenplay (Barry Fanaro and Mort Nathan wrote the original) or are simply happy to hand over those duties to others.
In case you need a reminder, the first film starred Woody Harrelson as bowling prodigy Roy Munson, who is tricked into joining a con job that leaves him with a crippled hand for the rest of his life. Years later, a down-and-out Roy stumbles upon his ticket to fame and fortune when he discovers an Amish bowling phenom, Ishmael, played by Randy Quaid. Bill Murray plays bowling legend Big Ern McCracken, while Lin Shaye, Chris Elliott and Vanessa Angel were also part of the cast. Will Woody be back? Is Randy Quaid too busy proposing conspiracy theories to bother? And, vitally, do the filmmakers still have the magic contact to have Murray appear? We'll see if this one comes to fruition.
