Comedy 9 To 5 might have been released in 1980, but its story of workplace chauvinism and gender inequality still feels timely. So timely, in fact, that 20th Century Fox wants to make a new version, and is looking recruit original stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton to make appearances.

Original co-writer and creator Patricia Resnick is ready to return, and according to Deadline, is talking to Rashida Jones about collaborating on an updated screenplay that would see three young women dealing with sexism in the workplace in the era of #MeToo and turning to the original trio with help navigating the choppy workplace waters.

The film was a big hit, scoring an Oscar nomination for Parton's eponymous theme song, and became a short-lived (on, Broadway at least, it continues to tour and stage productions here and elsewhere) musical. Any new version will have a lot to live up to...
