Curtis 50 Cent Jackson may have made a less-than-dazzling movie debut in Get Rich or Die Tryin', but dagnabbit, he's going to get movie-famous or die tryin', and with that in mind he's deep in negotiations to join Spectacular Regret, along with Danny Huston, Kelli Garner and John Ortiz.
The independent film will star Jackson as a Death Row inmate in LA, whose imminent execution "has made him a cause celebre", so the story goes. He's one of four Angelenos "struggling to overcome past events". So in other words it sounds a bit like Monster's Ball meets Crash, and Jackson's hoping for that a bit of the praise heaped on P. Diddy in the former will come his way this time.
Joshua Leonard wrote the script and will make his feature directorial debut on the film. You probably know him best, however, as Josh from The Blair Witch Project, although you should look out for his cameo in the upcoming Prom Night soon. Since his horror debut, he's made a short film and co-directed a documentary, so hopefully during that time he's learned how to hold the camera straight.
Filming starts in LA in July, so fingers crossed that this rather interesting group make something worth watching.
