It's really a beautiful tale of triumph against adversity. The four principal cast members of the original Fast and Furious film have now all signed on to reprise their roles in the third sequel, The Fast and the Furious 4, with the news that Michelle Rodriguez has finally committed to the project.

That means that Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster are reunited with their missing fourth limb, as it were, and all set to start. This time (you'll never guess) our hero Brian (Walker) sets out to catch a drug dealer (no!) through the medium of car racing (gadzooks!). Brian gets himself a place on the criminal's team, where he is ultimately joined by Dominic (Diesel) who is apparently (spoiler!) back from his trip to Japan at the end of the last, largely unconnected film.

No word where Rodriguez and Brewster actually fit in to that plot, but we're guessing they get to be all tough and stuff but also have to be rescued at some point, while falling in love with our heroes all over again along the way.

Justin Lin, who directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (ie the last instalment), is set to wield the megaphone, and the script (if it matters in this case) was written by Tokyo Drift and Wanted's Chris Morgan. To be honest, the combination of these two suggests that the CG-assisted race scenes will look fantastic, but that dialogue and character will be left behind in a puff of exhaust somewhere along the way. Which is, of course, business as usual for this franchise, so bring it on.
