This could be good news for Kiefer Sutherland, who deserves a boost after learning on Thursday that his latest show, Touch, has just been cancelled by Fox TV. Now comes word that 24's Jack Bauer could be back on the goggle box for a limited event series.
With plans for a spin-off film seemingly trapped in a locked room with no way of getting out (come on, surely Bauer would be able to punch a bad guy and pick the lock with the unfortunate minion’s teeth?), long-time show boss Howard Gordon – who is currently working on Homeland – has pitched the network the idea of bringing 24 back in miniseries form.
The plot will apparently re-set the clock on the story, instead of trying to continue where it left off with a new adventure for everyone’s favourite shouty, shooty hero. Nothing has been made official yet, but Sutherland is in talks to return and hopefully some of the others will also be back. The cougar that menaced Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) during Day 2 is apparently holding out for more steaks and is unlikely to return. Cats, eh?
Don’t get too excited just yet: after all, the movie seemed like it was happening time and again and left us disappointed, but this appears to have a much stronger chance, damnit! And the clock is ticking...
