A couple of years ago, Shane Black attempted to breathe fresh life into the Predator franchise, with The Predator. The result was.... Not exactly the smash hit everyone hoped for, but that isn't putting the Disney-owned 20th Century Studios trying again. The company has hired 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg to take another stab at the concept.

Deadline reports that Patrick Aison, who has worked on shows such as Jack Ryan and Legion is writing the script, but the story is being kept quiet. It won't, apparently, follow on the story from Black's film, but will be its own thing. Will it connect with the 1987 original? That remains to be seen, but we can just hope for more extraterrestrial madness as the hunt-happy alien species targets humanity once again.

Trachtenberg has been attached to a few projects since Cloverfield Lane's arrival, including a Portal film, but we're keeping our fingers crossed his work will properly be back on our screens before too long.
