After years working on shorts, director Dan Trachtenberg broke out big this year with 10 Cloverfield Lane, turning in a taught, tense thriller. He's now been hired to bring those skills to an episode of Black Mirror.
With Netflix having taken over the series from Channel 4, the new incarnation of the show will feature the same blend of speculative fiction, dystopian viewpoints and techno terror and is boosting its behind-the-scenes team with a range of filmmakers including Joe Wright, Jakob Verbruggen and now Trachtenberg. Given that he's a huge fan of series such as The Twilight Zone, it feels like a natural fit.
With Charlie Brooker staying in charge of the series, the show, which already had a reputation for attracting great talent has also scored actors such Bryce Dallas Howard and Alice Eve for the new series, which has an initial order of 12 episodes under its new owners. We don't know yet when the new series will air, but it has a lot to live up to...
