Having reinvigorated the zombie movie with Day Of The Dead, George A. Romeroís retooling of the vampire myth is typically intelligent, provocative and profound.
Substituting a crazy mixed-up kid (an excellent John Amplas) with a penchant for draining his victims via razor and hypodermic for the traditional be-fanged tomfoolery, Romero locates his horrors in superstition and cruelty - and delivers one of the bleakest endings in horror history.
