As the John Wick cinematic world continues to expand via the third movie, the TV series spin-off is also still very much in play thanks to writer Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski. Now Stahelski has offered an update on the TV show.

Currently named The Continental after the luxury hotel chain that offers accommodation and other services to assassins across the world, the show will build out the Wick universe in interesting ways. "They’ve got a really good structure," Stahelski tells Indiewire. "It’s very tied to the film in that it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool. I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive."

And while the movies understandably focus on Keanu Reeves' titular hitman, the show will expand that view to encompass other characters. "I like telling stories from my one character’s perspective," Stahelski says. "Once you put that aside with the TV show, you can expand to all the different characters and follow them throughout their journey. You can be with the consigliere, concierge, the sommelier — you can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited from exploring by staying with my lead guy."

Yet that "main guy" will likely pop in, according to the director, so we may see John Wick himself, even if it's just a cameo. There's no official decision on the show just yet, but the third movie should be with us within the next couple of years.
