There are few comedians as iconic as Eddie Murphy. Since exploding onto Saturday Night Live back in 1980, through the likes of 48 Hrs, Beverly Hills Cop and Trading Places, he established himself as a titan of the genre. Hot off his 2019 comeback hit Dolemite Is My Name, Murphy returns to one of his best-loved roles this week as King Akeem in Coming 2 America.

Empire's Chris Hewitt got to tick one off the bucket in a rare interview with the king of eighties funnymen on the new Empire Podcast, when Murphy jumped on the phone to discuss his new film, getting back in to stand-up and what it takes to transform himself into a dozen different characters in a a single film. You can listen to the interview here:
