Coulson lives! Yes, yes, we know he was revived for TV's Agents Of SHIELD, but Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson coming back to the big screen thanks to the production (and '90s story setting) of Captain Marvel. And he's not the only one returning, as Lee Pace will be back as Ronan The Accuser and Djimon Hounsou returns as mercenary Korath The Pursuer. Steven The Bus Driver sadly, remains only in talks.

The cameras have now officially started rolling on the film, which stars Brie Larson as the title character, a pilot who becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes. We'd already learned that Samuel L. Jackson will be back as Nick Fury (with two eyes present and correct, at least initially), while Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, McKenna Grace, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Lashana Lynch and Jude Law are all part of the cast.

Yes, fans of Pace's Ronan will be happy to see the rogue Kree warrior getting another shot at the MCU given the movie's earlier setting. With shooting set for LA, Fresno and Louisiana, Captain Marvel features Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing, while Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch worked on the script alongside the pair.

Captain Marvel will be out in both the US and UK on 8 March next year. Marvel celebrated the start of shooting by posting a picture of Larson researching her role at Nellis Ari Force Base in Nevada with Brigadier General Jeannie Leavitt.
