Among the many great things about Black Panther was Danai Gurira's bold, wig-chucking, take-no-crap performance as Okoye. Now the actress is in line for two potentially new big movies, Godzilla Vs. Kong and the next Star Trek outing.
Gurira, who is more normally found playing Michonne on The Walking Dead, is in early talks to take one of the main roles in Adam Wingard's monster-mash-up movie, which will see the giant reptile take on the massive ape in a clash of titans that will either finish with one of the them defeated or a potential future team-up where they take on some other monster threat.
The film isn't due to hit cinemas until 2020 (reptile sequel Godzilla: King Of Monsters precedes it next year), but it's already been gathering cast members, including Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler and Ziyi Zhang, who are all carrying over from King Of Monsters, plus Deadpool 2's Julian Dennison. Naturally, there is no information yet on who Gurira will be playing in the movie.
Star Trek, meanwhile, is nothing to do with the version that Quentin Tarantino has been quietly developing, but instead the latest in the rebooted series that recently hired SJ Clarkson as director. No release date has been announced for that one yet.
