Resident Evil Revelations was no graphical slouch when it shipped on Nintendo’s pint-sized 3D powerhouse back in 2012, boasting technical prowess and old school sensibilities. For fans of the never-ending series, Revelations was one of the most enjoyable entries in recent memory, so it was inevitable that Capcom would take the necessary steps to port it to consoles in a bid to counter the poor performance of Resident Evil 6.

Shoehorning its narrative between the events of Resident Evils 4 and 5, Revelations shines a spotlight on the events that led to the disappearance of Jill Valentine. It’s a serviceable storyline, which expects a certain amount of familiarity with the series, and is hampered only by the abundance of shockingly bad one-liners. and a lack of enemy variety. Despite this, Revelations does pack an atmospheric punch thanks to sections on the spectacularly spooky HMS Queen Zenobia, a floating ghost ship swarming with a new breed of canonical creatures, daftly named the Ooze.

Like almost every other Resident Evil title, there are handful of multiplayer modes peppering the package, including the original 3DS Raid Mode and a new punishing Infernal Mode, which unlocks after completion, offering up a higher difficulty level and randomised items. If you somehow missed Revelations first time around then this HD revamp is definitely worth a look.
