Every time a new console hits, slavering gamers seduced by flashy graphics and the thrill of a new machine are quick to hail certain titles as the best example of their genre and renounce everything that went before. But while Project Gotham Racing is a solid, great-looking speedster, its certainly not the worlds greatest driving sim.
Like all 360 launch titles, PGR3 boasts remarkably slick and stylish visuals, the shiny motors weaving around tracks based in New York, London, Tokyo, Las Vegas and Nurburgring, each packed with familiar sights and scenery that are sure to take your breath away. The Gotham TV online option, where you can sit back and watch the worlds best players in action, also helps create a unique sense of community, and the fact that your car takes visual damage as your bump and grind around the tracks makes for a more satisfying experience than the PS2s Gran Turismo 4.
But while the graphics are stunning and the sense of speed is frankly terrifying, PGR3 doesnt offer any gameplay leaps when compared to its illustrious Xbox predecessors, and theres nothing here to make you feel as if youre playing the worlds most powerful console.
