Max Landis has been an industrious sort recently, cranking out scripts and working on his directorial debut. And now, weeks after his spec Bright nabbed power players and a big deal from Netflix, he has another script out on the market: Deeper, with Bradley Cooper attached to star.
Deeper, which was first announced last November, is described as a claustrophobic deep-sea thriller that follows a former astronaut on a research dive into a freshly-discovered trench that offers access to the deepest part of the ocean. Clearly, he hasn't seen The Abyss, as he's soon in the grip of a mysterious and potentially dangerous force.
With White God director Kornel Mundruczo also part of the team, the new script has now ignited a bidding war, with several companies including Paramount, Bold Films and Fox Searchlight vying to snap it up. It's following in the footsteps of Bright, which has David Ayer directing and Will Smith and Joel Edgerton set to star. That script sold for $4 million and carries a $90 million price tag for all the elements.
