We've yet to see how Vince Vaughn handles a more action-orientated leading man role in Term Life after usually staying in the comedy world. But it appears he's ready to remain in a more dramatic, dangerous frame and is on to star in Brawl In Cell Block 99.

S. Craig Zahler, who brought us the brutal, bloody but also stealthily funny Bone Tomahawk, is behind the new film, which will follow a former boxer (Vaughn) whose life is slowly deteriorating. He's just lost his job at a car repair garage and his marriage is less on the rocks, more shipwrecked. As a last shot, he agrees to work for an old friend as a drug courier and that helps his finances, but leads him into real danger as he ends up in a gunfight between the police and his allies. Dragged off to the slammer, he soon finds himself having to defend himself as his enemies look to take him down...

The cameras should be rolling on this one later in the year, once Zahler has gathered the rest of the cast. He's already got the Tomahawk producers on board setting the financing, with XYZ Films selling the rights at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

Vaughn has definitely been switching things up of late, starring in True Detective's second season and playing a stern military type in Mel Gibson's new film, Hacksaw Ridge. Term Life is out in the States this week, but doesn't have a UK release set yet.
