In the works for a while now, the new version of the Ocean's heist caper franchise, called Ocean's 8 after the main cast's gang of... well, you can figure that out, is finally starting to lock in its core players beyond stars Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and rapper Awkwafina are all now set to appear.

In addition to the recent additions, Mindy Kaling, who was speculated recently, is also aboard, but it appears that Elizabeth Banks is no longer in the running, assuming she actually was. Still, with seven places now filled, there's always the chance she could make a deal and show up.

Gary Ross is overseeing the new movie, which he co-wrote with Olivia Milch and has been developing alongside Ocean's trilogy director Steven Soderbergh, who will act as producer. While Ocean's 8 appears unlikely to be a direct sequel to the three films that Soderbergh made with George Clooney and co. (that trilogy itself a remake of the 1960 Frank Sinatra entry), there is a chance that folk from the last three films could pop up in cameos.

All we know for sure right now is that it'll be a heist film and that Ross is looking to kick off filming this October in New York. You'll know most of the cast already; Awkwafina is not, as you might assume, a character from Bojack Horseman, but is the hip hop persona for actress Nora Lum, last seen in Bad Neighbors 2.
