Ridley Scott's portfolio of projects he's producing includes a thriller called The Burning Woman. The script by Out Of The Furnace's Brad Ingelsby has had Scott's son Jake attached to direct for a while, and finally appears to have tracked down a cast with Sienna Miller, Aaron Paul, Christina Hendricks and Jacki Weaver all stepping aboard.
Set in the blue-collar milieu of US industrial towns, The Burning Woman focuses on a 32-year-old Pennsylvania woman whose teenage daughter goes missing, leaving behind an infant grandson to raise. The story then takes place across 11 years as the woman searches for some closure on the case while caring for the boy, finding her way ever closer to the truth of what happened.
Ingelsby developed the idea with Michael Pruss and wrote the main character with Anne Hathaway in mind. But while she showed some initial interest, she's now left the film, but it's finally back on track after a few more months in the development cauldron. There's no word yet on when it might start shooting. A far better question is just is Ingelsby's obsession with fire? Furnaces? Now burning? No one give the man matches.
