Given how companies like to keep profitable franchises afloat as long as possible, lots of talk about how this is "definitely" the last entry in the film series (very) loosely adapted from the Resident Evil game seems premature. Still, that's the feeling that pervades the new, full trailer for The Final Chapter.
Milla Jovovich's Alice, having somehow survived the onslaught of the infected in Washington, is inexorably drawn back to where it all began: Raccoon City, where the villainous A.I. known as the Red Queen (played here by Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson's daughter, Ever) offers her a chance to end it all with a cure for the T-Virus that has been causing all the problems so far.
Is it a trap? A treaty? Almost certainly the former, but Alice sees her chance to finally end the post-apocalyptic chaos once and for all. Featuring the likes of Ali Larter, Ruby Rose, Iain Glen and Shawn Roberts, and a visual style that appears seriously inspired by Mad Max: Fury Road, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is out in the UK on 24 February, 2017.
