Gillian Jacobs has been a consistent performer on screens both small (Community and Netflix's Love) and big (Choke, upcoming pic Don't Think Twice). She's now been recruited for Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone's next movie collaboration, currently called Life Of The Party.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot for this one is still largely a mystery, though it's apparently in the same spirit as 1987's Back To School, which saw Rodney Dangerfield's free-spirited and annoying businessman enter college to help his son get through to graduation. Which makes it sound like McCarthy will be joining a sorority, especially since Jacobs is one board to play a member of one of the groups.
As usual for their movies, Falcone and McCarthy have written the script together and Falcone will call the shots. The aim is to kick off shooting in Atlanta this August. So we'll no doubt be hearing more about casting in the coming weeks.
As mentioned, Jacobs is part of the cast for Mike Birbiglia's Don't Think Twice, about a rift between members of an improv troupe when one of them gets a big TV offer. That one arrives in US cinemas this month but has yet to secure a UK date. The second season of Love, meanwhile, will be on Netflix next year.
