A new film called Serenity? Can our dreams of a Firefly revival finally be coming true? Sadly... No. It's actually Steven Knight's latest, a noir that has Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway closing deals to star.

Locke man Knight has once again written and will direct the film, and Deadline has sniffed out details about the plot, which reportedly finds a fishing boat captain in the Caribbean whose past life is about to crash into his present and change all that he knows. Given that it's set to see McConaughey and Hathaway sharing the screen again for the first time since Interstellar, we can only wonder whether Matt Damon is lurking on an island somewhere...

Assuming it all comes together, Knight will be kicking off the shoot this summer, with the rights available at the European Film Market in Berlin next month and studios already circling.

McConaughey's latest, Gold has just done something of a belly flop into the American box office and is due here on 3 February. He'll also be seen in The Dark Tower, which arrives on 28 July. Hathaway has Ocean's Eight out next year and offbeat monster movie Colossal still seeking a UK release.
