Michael Bay likes to have a certain amount of comedy in his Transformers films amidst all the robo-crunching action. Age Of Extinction (briefly) featured the talents of T.J. Miller and now Jerrod Carmichael is in talks to join the fifth film.
Having emerged from the writers' room that Paramount and Akiva Goldsman set up to develop new ideas, the latest visit with Optimus Prime and the rest of the living robots is back under Bay's control and will feature Mark Wahlberg once again as Cade Yeager.
Not much else has been released about the movie, though Bay is now gathering his cast, with both Carmichael and Nickelodeon actress Isabela Moner both circling mystery roles. The plot remains a secret, though we can pretty much guarantee a lot of explosions, some humans shouting, robots transforming, a few sleek new vehicles, sunsets and, let's say a kitten for good measure.
The Bayhem will be on this summer in Detroit and the film has a June 23 release date staked out for next year. Apparently it'll be Bay's final time behind the camera for the franchise, but he has said that before.
Carmichael played Garf in Bad Neighbours and returns for its sqeuel, which is out on May 6. He's also the star and creator of US sitcom The Carmichael Show.
