It might not have quite the same buzz as, say Orange Is The New Black or House Of Cards, but Bloodline has been plugging away, delighting fans of dark family noir, steamy Florida locales and a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini and Ben Mendelsohn. The show has just earned a third season renewal from Netflix.
Set in the Florida Keys, the show chronicles the misadventures of the wealthy Rayburn family. All seems to be well among them until eldest son Danny (Mendelsohn) returns home in the first season and starts to reveal some of the darker secrets the clan has kept buried for years. Soon the family is tearing itself apart as skeletons come rattling out of the closet. The second season continued the drama and added the likes of Andrea Riseborough.
Nothing is known about what new dark surprises will be bubbling up this time, but we may actually find out whether (spoiler alert if you haven't watched it) John Rayburn (Chandler) actually ends up leaving. And even if he does, won't he just be back a few seasons down the line? That seems to be this family's trademark.
Show co-creators Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman will be back to work on the season, and will have 10 new episodes ready for next year. “Todd, Daniel, and Glenn have created a riveting family saga featuring one of the most talented ensembles in the history of television. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for the all-too-human Rayburns,” says Netflix vice president of original content Cindy Holland.
