If you've been enjoying this first season of Westworld and are eager to see more of both the world and its stories, then we have good news: US cable channel HBO has renewed the show for a second season.
"We’re thrilled that the saga of Westworld will continue for another season,” co-creators/showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy say in a statement. "During the lengthy journey to the screen, our incredibly talented actors, staff and crew became a family, and we look forward to the privilege of continuing this experience with them. We’re also thankful to all of our amazing partners at HBO, WBTV and Bad Robot for their steadfast support, imagination and ambition. We simply couldn't have made this show anywhere else."
But before you hop in the saddle for a quick gallop of joy, hold your horses. Because of the complicated nature of shooting the series – yes, we know, Game Of Thrones films in more varied locations with a bigger cast – it's looking like the series might not return until 2018. "Westworld is such a big, ambitious show. I don't know if it will be fall of 2017 or into '18," HBO programming president Casey Bloys tells The Hollywood Reporter{
There was renewal news for comedies Divorce (created by Sharon Horgan and starring Sarah Jessica Parker) and Insecure, which was created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore and stars Rae. Both of those shows should be back next year.
