He's been acting front of the camera for a few years now, and has also turned his hand to writing on several of his movies. Now Jonah Hill feels ready to direct, and is looking to kick off his shot-calling career with one of his own scripts, Mid-90s.
Details of the actual story are still thin on the ground, though it's apparently a coming-of-age tale about a group of Californian teens who have to navigate their world of drink, drugs, sex, fights skateboarding and finding their place... and make a few bad decisions along the way.
Hill has producer Scott Rudin, who worked with him on Moneyball and I Heart Huckabees, putting the various elements in place, including likely US distributor A24. Unlike some of his contemporaries, though, Hill doesn't plan to act in the film.
He will next be seen in animated adventure Sausage Party (August 12) and gun-running comedy drama War Dogs, which is out on August 26 (and put out its first trailer recently).
