Currently busy filming scenes for his Daredevil spin-off The Punisher, Jon Bernthal is getting some company on the streets of Hell's Kitchen and beyond, with a batch of new potential allies and enemies cast. Jaime Ray Newman, Michael Nathanson, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore and Paul Schulze have all joined the cast.
The Punisher picks up vigilante Frank Castle's story after his encounter with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and co. in the second season of Daredevil. The show already boasts the likes of Ebon Moss-Bacharach, Amber Rose Revah and at least one visit from Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page. We've not yet heard whether Rosario Dawson will be popping up as Claire Temple, but there's a chance given how she appears in the other Marvel/Netflix shows.
Newman is playing Sarah Lieberman, wife to Moss-Bacharach's Micro, who finds that her life is more complicated. Nathan is Sam Stein, a Homeland Security agent who works alongside Revah's Dinah. Then there's Webber as Lewis Walcott, a young veteran having trouble returning to the civilian world, while Moore is Curtis Hoyle, one of Frank Castle's new friends. Finally Schulze is playing Rawlings, a high-ranking part of the CIA who meets Castle when the latter is serving in Afghanistan.
"We couldn't have asked for a more talented group of actors to round out the cast of Marvel's The Punisher," says show-runner Steve Lightfoot in a statement. "It's a thrill to watch them each bring their characters to life with such layered, nuanced performances." The Punisher should be on Netflix in 2017.
