It's perhaps not that shock given that the Pirates Of The Caribbean films have already established an affinity for veterans of the music scene with Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow's (Johnny Depp) dad. But this news still comes as something of a surprise: Paul McCartney is shooting a scene for the fifth instalment, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
No, you haven't imagined that they're still shooting after all this time. According to Deadline, the Pirates crew and some of the cast are reconvening to shoot a new, hefty set-piece that will be built around McCartney's mysterious character. It's an additional scene to be added into the movie before it hits our shores on May 26, 2017. The movie's basic plot, or what we know of it so far, has Depp's Jack facing off against an old adversary when Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) escapes from the Devil’s Triangle with a squad of ghost buccaneers and sets out on a mission to kill every pirate. Jack's only hope will be to track down the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants its possessor control over the seas.
Other new faces this time include Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites, while Orlando Bloom returns as Will Turner and Geoffrey Rush is back as Barbossa. Jeff Nathanson on script duty and Kon-Tiki directing pair Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning are calling the shots this time out.
