Given the warm reception for writer-director Trey Edward Shults' previous film, Krisha, there has been some anticipation for his next, a horror tale starring Joel Edgerton called It Comes At Night. The film has just premiered across the pond at the Overlook Festival to glowing reviews and the new trailer has arrived online.
From the looks of this, it'll be better to go into knowing as little as possible. The basic concept, at least, runs thusly – in a seemingly post-apocalyptic world, a man (Egerton), his wife (Carmen Ejogo) and their son (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) are living in an isolated cabin trying to avoid some unspecified threat.
They welcome new arrivals (a couple played by Christopher Abbott and Riley Keough) into their shelter with some basic rules: if they venture out during the day, they go in groups. No one goes out at night, and the one red door that leads into the cabin is always locked. But then, of course, something goes wrong with that arrangement...
It Comes At Night will hit US cinemas on 9 June, but the film hasn't yet announced a UK release date.
