"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn't stop to think if they should..." So speaketh Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcom, a man who knows a thing or two about the consequences of people messing with nature. But when we consider the idea of bringing his character back for the sequel to Jurassic World, we absolutely, positively know that they should. And so they have!

Yes, Goldblum, or rather Ian Malcom (though the two have a habit of blurring in his usual style), will appear in the follow-up, which is now filming. Quite what he'll be up to is anyone's guess at this point, though he does at least have a lot of experience dealing with runaway dinos following Jurassic Park and its own sequel, 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. And Malcolm was featured, stealthily, in the first Jurassic World – his book, God Creates Dinosaurs, is seen a few times in the movie.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong are all back for the still-untitled sequel, while new franchise faces include Toby Jones, Rafe Spall and James Cromwell. The movie, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, will be out here on 8 June next year. But all you really need to know at this point is, GOLDBLUM IS BACK, PEOPLE! THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

His Jeff-ness will be bringing his innate Goldblumosity to Thor: Ragnarok on 27 October this year.
