A week ago, Marvel and US streaming service Hulu introduced the main, young cast for the companies' adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's Runaways. Today we know that the likes of James Marsters, Kevin Weisman and Ever Carradine will be playing their parents, the supervillain cabal known as The Pride.
Its the younger characters discovering that their elders are baddies that sends them off on their, forming an unlikely family unit as they discover both themselves and their own powers.
Buffy veteran Marsters will be Victor Stein, a man with seeming good intentions; an engineering genius who might just save the world from itself. He has sky high expectations for his son Chase (Gregg Sulkin), and is a tough father when they're not met. He's married to Carradine's Janet Stein, who longs for more from life than simply being wed to a genius. Weisman is playing bioengineer Dale Yorkes, who loves his family but can't always communicate with daughter Gert (Ariela Barer). His wife is Bridgid Brannagh's Stacey Yorkes, who has a progressive parenting style.
There is also Geoffrey (Ryan Sands) and Catherine Wilder (Angel Parker), who have son Alex (Rhenzy Feliz), Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi as Tina and Robert Minoru, perfectionist parents to Lyrica Okano's Nico. And finally, Leslie and Frank Dean, played by Annie Werschling and Kip Pardue.
“This cast is an abundance of riches. We are so excited to have assembled our Pride, though for the fate of humanity we should be very concerned,” say executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The show doesn't have a launch date yet, and there's no indication on which UK channel might end up carrying it.
