Given that Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy films had the late, great John Hurt playing Professor Trevor Bloom, the hero's adoptive father, the new version needed to find someone great to fill that role. Fortunately for Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, the movie has locked in Ian McShane.
The actor, most recently found playing Mr. Wednesday on TV's American Gods should bring a different vibe to the character, who is one of the people that discovers the young Hellboy and helps to raise him.
Rise Of The Blood Queen features new people behind and in front of the camera, with Neil Marshall directing, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and character creator Mike Mignola on script duty, and Stranger Things' David Harbour playing the title role in a movie that sees Big Red going up against a medieval sorceress who has plans to destroy the world.
Marshall should have the cameras rolling this September in Bulgaria and the UK.
