Given the technical complexity of bringing many of Beauty And The Beast's characters to life, and the fact that it won't waltz into our cinemas until next March, it's not surprising that the first teaser is very much short on actual footage. Still, take a first look at the film below.
Bill Condon is directing Disney's latest transformation of one of its fairy tale animations to live-action, with Emma Watson (the one person we do actually see on screen, since she doesn't require any effects work) as Belle, the smart brave young woman who is sent to live with a monstrous beast (Dan Stevens). Naturally there are difficulties at first, but once we learn that the hairy, gruff one is actually a cursed prince, the path is cleared for true love, romance and maybe, just maybe, a chance to reverse the evil spell.
Yet the path to happily ever after is littered with challenges, including a bitter, preening love rival in the shape of Gaston (Luke Evans) and winning over the Beast's talking furniture, including Ewan McGregor's candlestick Lumiere (whose French tones are ones that we 'ear on ze teaser) and Ian McKellen's clock Cogsworth (ditto, though in full McKellen without an accent.)
The cast also includes Emma Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Stanley Tucci, Josh Gad and Kevin Kline. Beauty And The Beast will be in UK cinemas from March 17 next year.
