In March, Maze Runner star Dylan O'Brien suffered a nasty injury on the set of the third film in the dystopian series, The Death Cure. Studio 20th Century Fox had hoped he'd be well enough to resume work on the film in a couple of weeks, but that won't be happening and the film's shoot is on hold indefinitely.
Looking to stay upbeat, the studio issued a statement on the new delay: “The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”
O'Brien was in a harness on top of a vehicle on set in Vancouver when he was unexpectedly pulled off and hit by a car, resulting in a concussion, facial fracture and lacerations. "His injuries are very serious, and he needs more time to recover," O’Brien’s publicist Jennifer Allen tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, which aims to wrap up the adaptations of James Dasher's book series, finds O'Brien's Thomas and his friends racing to cure a deadly pandemic known as the "Flare". Fox had planned to release the movie next February, but it now seems that it will miss that slot.
