Disney's latest animated adventure Moana is fast approaching with the tide, and the Mouse House has once again turned to one of its voice leads – Dwayne Johnson – to debut the new poster for the movie. Check it out below, courtesy of The Rock's Instagram page.
Moana tells the story of the titular young woman (Hawaiian newcomer Auli'i Cravalho), a headstrong, curious and adventurous sort who has always felt a connection to the ocean (more literally than, say someone who suddenly decides to buy a boat and sail around near Cornwall or something). That craving for change and expanding her horizons brings her into conflict with her father, the chief, voiced by Temuera Morrison, who believes his people should stay within the safety of their island's reef.
Undeterred, Moana sets out on a mission across the sea, and recruits a pompous, egotistical but powerful demi-god known as Maui (Johnson) along the way. They'll need all the help they can get as the quest becomes increasingly dangerous...
Hailing from Little Mermaid duo Ron Clements and John Musker, Moana also features music from the powerhouse combo of Disney scoring veteran Mark Mancina, world music legend Opetaia Foa'i and Hamilton tunesmith Lin-Manuel Miranda.
That November 23 release date, by the way, is just for the States. The UK has to wait until December 2, and you can see a changing image poster for various places around the world right here. The most recent trailer is lurking below, but The Rock will be pimping the next one later this week.
