After working together on upcoming action comedy Central Intelligence and reuniting for an entertaining co-hosting job at this year's MTV Movie Awards, it looks like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are looking to keep the working bromance bubbling. They're now circling Sony's planned Jumanji reboot.
Despite both having packed schedules, the pair is apparently in real talks to squeeze this in somewhere, and the studio is leaping at the opportunity like a hungry lioness on a hunt.
Originally touted back in 2012, this news adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 adventure book has been in development since then, and scored Jake Kasdan as director in January of this year.
The 1996 version saw Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as two kids who decide to play an old board game they find. Unbeknownst to them, it’s a magical item that can trap the unwary, and the sprogs release Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who had been sealed within the game’s jungle realm for years. But though he’s glad to be out, the kids’ actions also release a lot of other chaos into the world. You can imagine the dreams of massive effects sequences dancing in executives' heads, and the prospect of two immensely popular (and charismatic) actors will just add to that. We'll see if it all works out and makes the planned July 2017 release in the US.
