Preacher took the bold step of destroying its small-town setting at the end of first season, and the main characters are now out on a road trip. The show's American home, AMC, has announced a 19 June Stateside start for Season 2, and is expanding the cast.
Dominic Cooper is back as Jesse Custer, a troubled preacher whose Earthly woes are boosted by him bonding with the awesome power of Genesis, the product of a union between a demon and an angel. Now, with Heaven's forces sending The Cowboy (Graham McTavish, below) after Jesse, assassin ex Tulip (Ruth Negga) and quirky vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the trio are heading out to find God and discover why the deity has seemingly abandoned his creations.
As they continue their mission, the three will meet all manner of people, and creators Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin are adding Noah Taylor, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery as new regulars, with Malcolm Barrett, Roland Guttman and Justin Prentice on as recurring.
The show's team has already been busy shooting the new season, which boasts an expanded order of 13 episodes. Preacher should be back on Amazon Prime in the UK starting 25 June.
