He'll be on the big screen as a misunderstood type in Disney's Beauty And The Beast next year, but Dan Stevens will also be showing up on our TV screens as the lead in the adaptation of Marvel's Legion character (one owned by Fox). With the show just announced as debuting in February across the pond, a new trailer is online.
Legion, adapted from the character first introduced in New Mutants in 1985, focuses on David Haller (Stevens). Long dealing with mental illness, he’s been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years until a strange encounter with another patient leads him to think that maybe the voices and strange visions he experiences might be more real than he or anyone else thought. This new trailer expands the world further, with the revelation that mutants are very real and the government is worried about the implications. Cue tension and the usual secretive groups out to control them...
With Fargo's Noah Hawley overseeing the show, Legion also features Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Katie Aselton and Bill Irwin. It's scheduled to kick off on 8 February on US network FX, and has been picked up by Fox TV in the UK, though the company's site doesn't yet have a launch date for the show. Hopefully, it'll follow the pattern of, say, The Walking Dead and arrive around the same time.
