They worked well together on The Lobster, and now Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is recruiting Colin Farrell to star in his next project, The Killing Of A Sacred Deer.

Not the dark-hued Bambi prequel you might expect, Sacred Deer

instead sees Lanthimos working again with writer Efthymis Filipou for a story based on a Euripides tragedy. It focuses on Steven (Farrell, we'll assume, unless we learn otherwise), a successful surgeon who strikes up a friendship with a teenage boy who wants him to join the lad's broken family. But when the young man's actions turn increasingly sinister, Steven's perfect life starts to fall apart and he's forced to make a terrible choice... Lanthimos should be calling the shots in August.

It certainly sounds like it'll be even darker than The Lobster, and may not channel the same vein of humour. But given Lanthimos' output so far, we're already intrigued. The writer/director is also working on historical drama The Favourite, which has Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone attached to star.
