The last time Charlize Theron, director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody worked together, the result was Young Adult. Now it appears the trio is ready to reunite for a new, untitled movie.
While the spiky 2012 comedy isn't widely considered among the best of Reitman and Cody's collaborations, it still had its pleasures in Theron's messed-up YA author Mavis Gary going on a quest to reclaim her ex-boyfriend from the arms of his wife their old home town.
Little is known about the new movie, other than that all three are in early talks to reunite for Cody's latest script, which draws on her own life experience and explores motherhood. But that's all the detail that Deadline has been able to lock down.
Theron will be back on our screens this week in The Huntsman: Winter's War (you can find our review here) and will be heard in Kubo And The Two Strings, due September 8. Reitman's most recent film was Men, Women & Children, and he's a producer and director on TV series Casual and Jake Gyllenhaal's latest, Demolition, which is out on April 29. Cody wrote last year's Ricki And The Flash and is developing several scripts while also working on Amazon series One Mississippi with comedian Tig Notaro.
