Both Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have proved they have musical acting chops. So this shouldn't really be too much of a surprise: the pair is attached to star in an untitled movie musical.
Details are scarce at the moment, but we do know that the idea was cooked up by Gordon-Levitt and 21 Jump Street writer Michael Bacall and has been snapped up by Universal. The plan is for Bacall to write the script and Tatum and Gordon-Levitt to play pilots who get themselves into trouble on an R-rated misadventure.
It's hardly the first time the pair has been mooted as a musical leading duo: indeed, when 20th Century Fox was first looking to make a new film based on Guys And Dolls, they were the names floated. They have form together on screen too, in the likes of Havoc and Stop-Loss.
And musicals are big at the moment: TV networks are falling over themselves to bring classic tuners to small screens and Universal itself already has one original musical movie in development from Josh Gad and writer/director Jeremy Garelick, which have the talents of no lesser tune titans than Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz providing the music and lyrics.
You'll be able to see Tatum showing his dance skills off to full effect in the Coens' new film, Hail, Caesar! which marches into our cinemas on March 4.
