With an Oscar squatting in her house thanks to her performance in Room and her career in top gear, you might think Brie Larson would have enough to do. But she's adding to the feathers in her cap by turning feature-length director for a new indie comedy called Unicorn Store.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Larson will also star in the film, which was written by Samantha McIntyre. And yes, in case you were wondering whether the title might be figurative or literal, the answer appears to lie somewhere in between. Store's plot finds a woman named Kit needing to move back in with her parents and receiving a mysterious invitation to a store that will change her ideas about whether she truly needs to grow up.
It's not Larson's first time behind the camera either, as she previously co-wrote and directed short films Weighting and The Arm, the latter of which won the jury prize at 2012's Sundance fest.
Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer is producing the movie with his partner David Bernad and Larson has financing in places from Hercules Film Fund. There's no information yet as to when she'll fit in into her increasingly busy schedule, though she likely has some time now before promoting movies she's worked on and starting new jobs. Larson will be back on our screens in Ben Wheatley's Free Fire, which will close the London Film Festival this year, and Kong: Skull Island, set to roar into cinemas on March 10 next year. She's also recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, finally confirmed as Captain Marvel at this July's San Diego Comic-Con.
