Given how many projects Benedict Cumberbatch seems to be involved in these days, it's not surprising that we occasionally have to sound the Cumber-klaxon more than once in a given news cycle. But here he is in a new image of Marvel's Doctor Strange, looking for all the world like he's either doing some mystical sorcery or has learned a bizarre form of karate.
The movie itself has just wrapped principal photography under the watchful eye of director Scott Derrickson and you might have seen some pictures of Cumberbatch and co-stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen on location floating around. This, however, represents a clearer look at the main man.
In the film, we see Strange evolve from arrogant surgeon to master of the mystical arts via a car accident and the ministrations of a strange mystic and healer known as The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). Ejiofor is fellow sorcery student (and potential future rival), with Rachel McAdams as another New York-based medic who serves as Strange’s main connection back to humanity and Mikkelsen as the still-unknown villain of this first outing.
Doctor Strange is out here on October 28. And by peering into this handy dimensional warp amulet (or just looking at the Twitter feed of Marvel's own Agent M, AKA Vice President and Executive Editor of Marvel Digital Media, Ryan Penagos), we can expect the first trailer for the film on April 12.
