Though he's been spending a lot of his time recently inhabiting Batman's cowl and brain, Ben Affleck has found space in his schedule to squeeze in a new directing/starring effort. The first teaser trailer for Live By Night finds him on criminal form.

Affleck’s latest adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s work finds characters from one of the writer’s previous books (The Given Day) and tracks them into the Prohibition era. Our main focus is Joe Coughlin (Affleck himself), a police captain’s son who, with his brother Danny (Scott Eastwood) finds himself caught up in organised crime as part of a rum-smuggling organization that transports booze from Cuba to Boston via Florida.

Brendan Gleeson is Affleck and Eastwood’s father, part of an ensemble that also includes Sienna Miller as Emma Gould, who Coughlin falls for, but who also happens to be the daughter of his mobster boss. Then there’s Zoe Saldana as Graciella Suarez, part of the Floridian crime structure and Elle Fanning playing sheriff’s daughter Loretta Figgis, an aspiring actress who finds herself in a world of trouble.
