One of the final few considered to take on the role of a young Han Solo before Alden Ehrenreich seized the keys to the Millennium Falcon, Ansel Elgort has spent the majority of his short career in young adult adaptations. But this all looks set to change with his latest project.

Looking to flex his acting muscles, Elgort has pencilled in Jonathan, an original indie that will see him play twins who have made a pledge to stay single. At least, that is, for the foreseeable, after one of them goes off with the other’s former girlfriend. To make it even more confusing, one of them is called Jonathan (a high-flying architect), the other John (a low-flying layabout). That’s some bad parenting right there…

Director Bill Oliver (also on co-writing duties) makes his feature-length debut with Jonathan. Elgort, on the other hand, has a strong roster of films lined up: Sacha Gervasi’s November Criminals which sees him reteam with Chloë Grace Moretz, James Cox’s Billionaire’s Boys Club with Kevin Spacey and Taron Egerton, and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver. He is also allegedly close to signing on the dotted line for Dungeons & Dragons.

Jonathan starts shooting next month.
