After a brief legal tussle with Godzilla rights owners Toho, unusual monster movie Colossal is free to stomp all over cinemas, kicking off with a premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Now a new image of Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis is online via Entertainment Weekly, and you can see it above.

Timecrimes director Nacho Vigalondo is the mind behind this one, cooking up the story of a woman named Gloria (Hathaway), who after losing her job and her fiancé with her hard-partying ways, decides to ditch life in New York and return to her hometown, where she reunites with childhood friend Oscar (Sudeikis).

But then she starts to realise that the giant lizard attacks on Tokyo she sees in news reports might just be linked to her, through the power of her mind. To try to prevent further chaos, she’ll have to discover just how and why her seemingly insignificant life is impacting the world to such a massive degree.

“The movie’s coming from my obvious love towards monster movies, and I was always intrigued by the possibility of setting a monster movie story in a human scale,” Vigalondo tells EW. “This is a monster movie that collides with a small indie drama, which is an interesting collision.” For more from the director, head to EW's site.

Colossal, which also features Dan Stevens and Tim Blake Nelson, has yet to set a release date here or in the States beyond its Canadian festival premiere.
